Bonampak was constructed in the Early Period (A. D. 580 to 800) this city is not as big as other Mayan cities but is conserves several murals which illustrate the way Mayas lived. Bonampak means "Painted Murals" and the most important thing to see are these paintings because they give you the idea of how were all Mayan ruins were painted and how they lived. Remember that all the ruins such as Chichen Itza, Palenque, Yaxchilan were all painted and now you can only see them white or grey, because the painting had vanished. Another interesting thing to know is that is that this city was strategically connected by straight roads to other cities like Palenque and Yaxchilan.
There are 3 rooms painted made in the VIII century under the rule of Chaan Muan. All important traditions were represented in this murals such as: the presentation of a new heir. Celebration of war, victory, sacrifice and special events.
